About Me

Hello all! After many years of having FW tanks, I started my Red Sea Max in April, 2007, and it seems likes it’s always a work in progress. Every time I think I’m content with it, I then think of something I’d like to change. I think I’ve finally completed my equipment purchases, but time will tell.

I first became interested in the RSM when I saw a post in Reef Central by MAXreefer, and he was displaying how great his tank looked after his first 2 months. After seeing his tank and what he had accomplished in 2 months I was hooked on not only a reef tank, but the RSM as well. Even though I’ve made some major changes to the look of the tank, I really liked the look of the tank, the sturdy and useful cabinet, and the fact that it didn’t look like a cube. It made a great addition to my family room, and has the look of a nice piece of furniture.

Before I decided on the RSM I was seriously considering upgrading from my small freshwater tanks to a 40 or 55 gallon cichlid tank. Then someone mentioned SW in one of the FW forums I was involved with, I started reading in Reef Central, saw MAXreefer’s tank, and the rest is history! It would have been a lot lower cost, and a lot less work, to have stayed in freshwater, but no where near as enjoyable as a reef tank. There are just so many things unique to having a reef tank, and so many things to enjoy. Colorful fish, a myriad of corals in all colors, unique critters, and not least of all the life that develops on live rock. I’ll never cease to be amazed at my little piece of a reef in my family room. I think I spend more time looking at the tank than the TV. And, “what’s now showing” in the tank is a lot better viewing!
